Here’s something cool for anyone who has a PS3 or an X-Box 360 and a big Hard Drive on their PC, how about turning your console into a media server?
Sounds hard right? Wrong it couldn’t be simpler and once set up there’s no more scrabbling to change cables so you can watch a film on your pc or listen to your music your console will do it for you.

You’ll need windows latest and greatest Media Player 11 for this to work mind.
So here’s how to do it.

Open Media Player 11 and right click over your library tab lots of options but the one you’re looking for is media sharing.

Left click on this option and assuming you’ve got your console switched on another box will appear called media sharing there’ll be a big window with some writing and a radio button with the words share my media to….. written above it.

Tick this box in the white window will be an icon that should have the words unknown device written below it. This is your console.

Below that are three buttons, allow deny or customize. You want to allow this and apply the changes by first clicking on the allow button then the apply button and finally the OK button.

The customize button allows you to play tracks by Media Player star rating or you can also allow it to have a guidance rating setup so that your little ones can’t access items you don’t want them to listen to or see.

It’s a brilliant way of being able to watch and listen to all your favourite media.
