    Hmmmm,

Well i don't really use software to speed anything up, Being trained as a technical analyst and software programmer i use alot of open source products or manually adjust things myself,

So i will list some manual ways to do it and some software Smile

    Firefox:

1.Type about:config into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining
    network.http.proxy.pipelining
    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows:

    Set network.http.pipelining to true

    Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true

Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some number like 8. This means it will make 8 requests at once.

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

By default, Mozilla Firefox comes with the file npnul32.dll in the Plugins directory. If you enter about:plugins in the location bar, youll see a list of installed Plug-ins, with file information, and MIME-type assignments. In that list, youll see npnul32.dll listed as Mozilla Default Plug-in, assigned to the MIME-type *.

This automatically searches for default plugin types and locates the source of the download making it easier to install the relevant plug-in's

    1. Enter about:config in the url bar and press enter

    2. Locate the setting plugin.default_plugin_disabled by entering it into the second url bar

    3. Double click and change the value to false

    4. Restart Firefox

    Internet Explorer:

    1. Click Start and select Run

    2. Type regedit and click OK.

    3. In the left pane navigate to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

    4. In the right pane you should see the contents of Internet Settings.

    5. Right-click on the right-hand column, click New, and then click DWORD Value.

    6. Type MaxConnectionsPerServer press Enter.

    7. Right-click the new value and click Modify.

    8. Click Decimal and set the Value Data field to 1000, then click OK.

    9. Right-click on the right-hand column, click New, and then click DWORD Value.

    10. Type MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server press Enter.

    11. Right-click the new value and click Modify.

    12. Click Decimal and set the Value Data field to 1000, then click OK.

Software that is intended to speed up internet connections streamline the actual packets and data flows that are sent between your computer router and the main server hub, thus given the faster connection to the internet however ...
Some software only change the settings on the computer to interpret the information faster, The above steps do exactly that.

Hope this is all useful to you

    Regards

    Craig

Any chance of me reproducing this on my forum with of course a copyright notice attached?
My forum is an RAOB (Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes) forum and not a technical one.
Additional information: The firefox one also works with the Flock browser.

    Hi Placehold!

I've already tried the tricks you showed for Firefox but it didn't make much difference, almost no difference Neutral

    Sorry to hear that,

The codes themselves only effect the way that the browser connects and streams the information meaning that if your Internet connection to begin with isn't all that good then you could be faced with a bad/slow connection despite the software you use and the alterations you make to the settings.

Also if the web page your connecting to is badly designed then that will most definitely effect your speed.

Have you tried the software posted?

    Regards

    Craig

I would recommend trying the open source ones first as they are for free however Auslogics Boost speed is actually fairly decent Smile

I used the tricks for firefox and got a very noticable difference.
From a page opening in a minute to almost instant opening.
Thanks Craig for the permission, I will include a link to this site and thread.

    Its ok,

As long as everyone gets something from it i guess it was worth while typing up lol

I might start doing a nice update section for open source in the future to be honest Smile

    Regards
