    Hello MrMario Smile

Is there anything in particular you are doing at the time it crashes or is it only when you boot your machine up?
Also what service pack is currently installed?

    Regards

Hmmmm sounds like it might be your video drivers, We'll try disabling your video driver and rebooting normally to see if it is the video card.

    1. Reboot tapping F8

    2. In the Boot menu options select "Safe Mode With Command Prompt"

    3. You should now be able to boot to desktop, In command prompt type "Msconfig" and press enter

    4. Select "General" tab and then select "Diagnostic Startup"

    5. Click "Apply" and select the option to "Exit With Restart"

You should now be able to boot up into normal mode first time without any further issues.

    6. Once on the desktop navigate to your device manager

    7. Select "Sound, Video and Game Controllers"

    8. Right Click on your Video Driver and select "Disable"

    9. Click "Start", "Run" and type "MSconfig" and change back to your normal startup

    10. Reboot and hopefully, Fingers crossed you should have no more issues

    Regards

Hmmmmmm that doesn't sound good to be honest

I just done it on an XP media center edition laptop, Was there any messages or did it just not load?

    1. Make sure you select "Normal Startup" from msconfig

    2. Reboot tapping F8 until you reach "Boot Options" menu

    3. Select "Safe Mode With Command"

    4. Follow the rest of the procedure above from 6. onwards

    Regards

    Yeah that should be ok,

So when you have entered selective mode does the black screens occur?
Have you tried to disable the video drivers?

Right ok, It sounds like it is the card that is at fault

Thankfully the card you have has a fix for this graphics fault

    1. Return your settings to normal, Renable the drivers

    2. Download the updates from ATI -> ATI Radeon 2600 Update: 8.8

    3. Reboot twice

Hopefully the cards should behave themselves Very Happy

    Regards

The only other options would be to swap it out for a downgraded version or an earlier version of the software, SP2 and ATI aren't best of friends

There has been ongoing issues with SP2 and ATI

Did you have any of these issues with your old driver?

    Regards

If you try to swap out to your old driver, If you only bought the new driver in February you should be able to get it fixed or replaced.

I use only sony's, never had an issue

    regards

    Hmmmmmmmm

To be honest with you, The Card you have seems to be glitchy

I asked the tech guys at ATI, They claimed to know about the issues and said that not all issues were resolved through the update.

    Try this:

    1. Navigate to Start\Control panel\Display

    2. Select the "Settings" tab and select "Advanced"

    3. In "Advanced" Select the "Troubleshooting" tab

    4. Change the "Hardware Acceleration" setting to a lower setting by dragging the slider from "Full" to "None" or a setting that appears to improve your computers performance.

Just below the hardware acceleration slider, you can see the "Enable write combining" option.

Write combining improves video performance by speeding up the display of information to your screen. However, increased speed can cause screen corruption, so if you experience problems with your display, clear the check box.

    5. Select "Apply"

Restart your PC and see if this will improve the issues you are experiencing

    Regards

    If it doesn't work,

Inform them that troubleshooting has failed to rectify the issue that the card is causing,
You can then request another card of the same value or another version of the same card

    Regards
